50 Wedding Anniversary Ideas

When a couple have been together for as long as this, then I am sure it can only be Love that keeps them bound together for such a time!

Anyway when researching for a 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary Party, what I found on the internet was a plethora of garish gold, gold balloons, big gold 50's, gold on gold, more gold on gold, gaudy gold, gold everything and generally too full on for my personal taste, I have to say I was not inspired at all.

Whilst 50 years of putting up with each other is something to be shouted about I am thinking more along the lines of subtle, yes definitely subtle let the WOW part be something more special and amazing to celebrate this couples well deserved special day....Not an explosion of latex!!

We want this couple to feel they are getting married all over again....maybe they will...

Venue - Find somewhere fresh, light and interesting

Cake - I would choose Linda Fripp.  If I was in the US then without a doubt it has to be Sylvia Weinstock - with Linda's can do anything attitude, I am sure she could come up with something spectacular or a added twist to one of her fabulous cakes.
Tables -Keep them fresh and light - Name the Tables or type up cards that tell a story or funny moment the happy couple have experienced
Food
Where ever possible find out what the happy couple love the most and try to incorporate it or a variant of it into a or some dishes.
Definitely canapes and most venues have really yummy ideas.
Find out what the couples first date drinks where....try and incorporate, and if viable into the meet and greet reception drinks...

Starters - Bacon and Brie in Filo is nice start to the meal
Main -  Roast or Chicken with lots of vegetables as the main.
Dessert - Get their favourite pudding made shipped in....

Entertainment
A table magician would go down well
Depending on their era...i.e. 60's early 70's, or if they are Jazz fans or Classical you can incorporate this.
Get them to play the wedding game....it's a lot of fun. Include speeches and first dance, with a confetti moment.

Include on the day photos of the happy couple through the years...it may take a bit of time but try to get photos of the main events, births, grandchildren weddings and birthdays they attended, special events, awards and put them in chronological order pegged in a long line around the room. It is likely to inlcude a photo of most people in the room and a way to acknowledge all the family in their 50 years. Try to use photocopies so they do not get lost or damaged.

Tie up the evening with a firework display....this is sure to be a night the Couple will enjoy and remember.

Any photos from the day compile them into a photobox book and give to them as 50th Wedding Anniversary gift.

Not a Gold balloon in sight....however I could not miss out a Gold 50 somewhere..go with something subtle like wine charms on the ladies wine glasses......
